UBM India, organiser of South Asia’s leading travel trade show, SATTE, today hosted the 5th edition of SATTE Mumbai West. The two-day show (19th- 20th August 2016), was inaugurated by Chief Guest Sudhir Patil, President, Maharashtra Tour Organisers' Association (MTOA); Mr Erdel S Ergen, Consul General, Turkey; Mrs. Bineshwaree Napaul, Consul General, Mauritius; Mr Michael Duck, Executive Vice President of UBM Asia and Mr Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India amidst and industry gathering at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre, Mumbai.

Catering primarily to the travel-trade fraternity of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, the trade show features national and international tourism boards, DMCs, travel agents and tour operators, airlines, OTAs, hotels, resorts and IT companies.

The two-day event started with two power packed seminars on Day 1 where Industry thought leaders gathered to share their views on the potential, opportunities, challenges and trends of the travel, tourism and hospitality industry with a focus on western India. The subjects of the conference included ‘Promoting Destinations through Cinema Tourism’ and ‘Bridging the gap between Tour Operators & Hoteliers’.

SATTE Mumbai West is ably supported by the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Association of Domestic Tour Operators (ADTOI), Maharashtra Tour Organisers’ Association (MTOA) and SKAL International.

Tourism In The Western Region

India has emerged as one of the fastest growing destinations in travel and tourism in the world. Tourism contributes approximately 6.8 per cent to India’s GDP and 10.2 per cent to employment.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) report, India’s travel and tourism economy is poised to grow 7.5% in 2015 over last year, exceeding the 6.9% growth that the global forum has predicted for the South Asian region. In 2014, the industry contributed Rs7.64 trillion and 36.7 million jobs to the Indian economy. By the end of 2015, the travel and tourism sector will contribute.

SATTE Mumbai West Conference

The Conference at SATTE Mumbai West will have noted personalities from cross sections of the industry share their views on the travel, tourism and hospitality trends in Western India. The sessions will also highlight Mumbai as an established outbound gateway and the future, Cinema Tourism, Cruise Tourism, how to cash in the tourism potential of the Western region and emergence of tier –II cities such as Nagpur, Nasik and Surat among others as major source markets.
